Mr. Klecha has 30 years of professional experience, with two years as a senior manager process control for RioTinto
SINGLETON, NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA, April 7, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Richard Klecha, Senior Manager Process Control of RioTinto, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in mining operations.
Mr. Klecha has 30 years of professional experience, with two years as a senior manager process control for RioTinto. His areas of expertise include coal processing design, operations, management and process optimization. On a daily basis, he is responsible for leading business improvement and process optimization initiatives.
Mr. Klecha feels that there are two key points of difference between himself and his peers. The first is his constant mission to find opportunities to add value. The second is his ability to think outside the box, which often allows him to produce immediate cost effective solutions where benefits can be achieved, or a longer term capital intensive solution can be readily demonstrated in a short time frame.
Looking back, Mr. Klecha attributes his success to the experience he has gained through the ranks of commencing on the shop floor through roles in designing, commissioning and managing Coal Handling and Processing Plants (CHPP) and the belief that a value adding mentality needs to be the key focus of any role undertaken. He became involved in his profession because he was raised in a small coal mining village in the UK where friends and family were employed in the coal mining industry, so he felt that it was a natural path to follow. The achievement that brings Mr. Klecha the greatest level of satisfaction during his working career was achieved over the course of a six month period, and led to a coking coal yield increase of 13 percent. He was employed by a contract mine operator with a contract payment based on product output metric tons at an operation that was struggling to achieve budgeted production. Capital funds were not available for infrastructure improvements and the gains were achieved by a reduction in hourly plant feed rate from the nameplate value to reduce circuit overloading and modifications designed internally to the existing flotation units. Approximately 70 percent of CHPP costs were fixed, which resulted in significant financial gains being achieved. In years to come, Mr. Klecha intends to experience continued growth in the industry.
