/24-7PressRelease/ - LARCHMONT, NY, January 07, 2008 - The inaugural auction of 2008 features an Sutton Place estate collection of modern art from American masters including Will Barnet, Joan Mitchell, Jacques Lipchitz, Dan Christensen and Alex Katz. An extensive modern art library is also featured including catalogues and monographs on Diebenkorn, Noland, Caro, Lichtenstein, Dine, Grooms, Olitski, Gilot, E Kelly, Johns, DeKooning, Lipchitz, Stella, C Still, M Louis, Nevelson, Avery and more.
A highlight of the sale is a massive Tiffany gilt bronze sculptural clock, possibly dating to the late 19th Century. Also featured are a pair of 18th C. Coade Lambeth figural architectural elements, an Henri de Triqueti marble sculpture c. 1850, French speciment-marble topped furniture; and period Venetian furniture including an 'straordinario divano veneziano'. Judaica includes sterling silver as well as additional fine art
Additional highlights include a collection of Mid-century Modern including a rare Hans Wegner 'cube' as well as McCobb, Widdicomb, Villency and Bertoia.
As always, the sale will feature crystal, fine china, Oriental carpets, chandeliers, and exceptional furniture.
