Ferman Chevy in Tampa Addresses Auction of First 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 to Benefit Karmanos Cancer Institute

    TAMPA, FL, May 08, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Tampa Chevy is pleased to announce that Chevrolet once again helped to raise money for the Karmanos Cancer Institute. For the fight against cancer, the manufacturer gave the Institute their first retail production of the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. (1)

The supercar was included in the Collector Car Auction in Florida, helping to raise money towards the excellent patient care that the Institute is known to offer. The 2015 Z06 is a powerful, high-performance vehicle. Equipped with a 6.2-liter all-new supercharged V-8 engine, the Corvette Z06 generates an incredible 625 horsepower. (1)

The sale of the Z06 took place at the Barrett-Jackson auction house on April 12. The proceeds will be directed towards the renovation of the infusion center where patients receive chemotherapy treatments. The modifications will create a more comfortable environment for everyone. (1)

General Motors has been a supporter of the Karmanos Cancer Institute for quite some time. Last year, the manufacturer auctioned its first 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible. The supercar raised an impressive $1 million for the cause with the winning bid coming from Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick. (1) (3) Hendrick, a Corvette collector, repeated the feat this year, winning the 2015 model for $1 million. (3)

For the 32nd-annual dinner, Tampa Chevrolet is happy to share the news of GM's additional gift to the Institute. The company also offered a grant of $400,000 in support of cancer research at Karmanos. (1)

The Annual Dinner Chairs include GM President Dan Ammann along with his wife and chief operating officer of Mother New York, Pernilla. The Karmanos Cancer Institute's Annual Dinner took place on April 26 at the Fox Theater in Detroit. (2)
