Selwyn Grieger Excels in Engineering Design

    QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA, May 08, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Selwyn Grieger, Managing Director and Engineering Designer at Practical Mechanical Solutions, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in engineering and design.

With 34 years of experience in his field, Mr. Grieger is known for his expertise in mechanical machinery, transmission and design. Daily, he is tasked with providing clients with options for solving their mechanical problems in many fields, from the aerospace industry to sawmills, while providing appropriate designs that can be managed through development to a complete working prototype or finished product. He is also responsible for overseeing his company's in-house 3-D printing capability in ABS plastic, and enabling clients to "handle and test drive" their designs.

One of the recent projects has been in designing the transmissions for a small helicopter. In addition, Practical Mechanical Solutions has recently acquired a Stratasys Fortus 250 3-D printer to complement the successful design services already offered. With this new technology, they are able to design and create durable 3-D models ready for final use, prototype proving, testing, and collaboration. This new technology would also allow its clients to test to form, fit and function, conduct ergonomic design studies, create durable working parts or models, acquire inexpensive molding patterns, reduce in-house production costs, meet short timeline requirements, and develop short run end use components.

Recently inducted into Worldwide Branding, Mr. Grieger attributes his success to a genuine interest, and passion. He became involved in his profession after working in various manufacturing, maintenance and project supervisory roles throughout his career. A successful entrepreneur, he was inspired to establish Practical Mechanical Solutions when he realized that finding mechanical designers with appropriate background and skills was difficult.

In the years ahead, Mr. Grieger will continue to mentor and develop the future generation. For now, he is content with his career.
