Ms. Rees enjoyed a long and varied military career in Canada and Europe. As a career military officer, she was one of the first women to graduate from Canada's Royal Military College. Through her association with Nikken, she is helping Spirit Gate Farm and many other nonprofit organizations earn their funding through a proven business model that continually builds on previous success in the fastest-growing and largest sector of the worldwide economy. Looking back, Ms. Rees attributes her success to never quitting and knowing why she does what she does. She became involved in her profession because she was stricken with a neurological disease that cost her 20 years of her life. She needed a way to get well and reinvent herself, so she went on to study business through the University of Phoenix and other nontraditional business schools. When a business executive told her about Nikken's products, she tried them. Her health improved so significantly that she then partnered with Nikken.
Ms. Rees completed postgraduate coursework in business from the University of Phoenix, as well as a bachelor's degree in philosophy and English from the Royal Military College of Canada. She is a member of the RMC Club of Canada and the Royal United Services Institute. In years to come, Ms. Rees intends to show that nonprofits can produce their own funding through a lucrative business model, rather than relying on handouts.
