"I'm always on the road, and it can be really difficult to eat healthy. foodtweeks makes it incredibly easy for me to choose better options. That's not even the best part! It actually inspires me"
RALEIGH, NC, June 05, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Craig Woolard, lead vocalist of Raleigh, NC based music group, The Embers, teamed up with foodtweeks, a free mobile app that helps people manage their weight while also feeding the hungry, in a drive to help reduce hunger across the country.
Through a guerrilla campaign focused on ending hunger, this partnership will seek to directly inspire Craig Woolard fans to download the foodtweeks app, and remove calories from their food in sustainable ways that work for them. For every calorie removed, foodtweeks will make a donation to food banks across the country so the same number of nutritious calories are given to hungry families.
To kick off this partnership, The Embers, featuring Craig Woolard, will be performing in concert today, Thursday, June 5th at the North Hills Midtown Concert Series in Raleigh, NC.
This concert series has grown to become a favorite Thursday evening activity in the region, drawing 10,000 plus fans from all across the state. The Central & Eastern NC Food Bank (CENCFB) will also be in attendance to help promote the event.
The Embers, featuring Craig Woolard, are a true musical tradition. After a 10-year separation, Mr. Woolard has rejoined the group and is bringing back that tradition.
The Embers have laid the groundwork for what has become known as "Beach Music" in the Carolinas and Virginias to the gulf coast region of North America and every beach in between.
For those not familiar with "Beach Music," it's most closely associated with the style of swing dance known as "the shag," or the "Carolina shag," which is also the official state dance of the Carolinas.
The Embers consider the genre of Beach Music as "music with a memory," and have been creating lasting memories since its inception by founder and leader, Bobby Tomlinson in 1958.
Embers Frontman and foodtweeks spokesperson, Craig Woolard, hopes to personally fuel a movement that motivates fans to download and use the app, which will result in donations to food banks around the country, by singing the praises of the foodtweeks mission to end hunger.
"I am so fortunate to have found my 'give back'," says Mr. Woolard. "I have been so very blessed." By using foodtweeks, Mr. Woolard has become more aware of his food options, and uses the app to learn about better ways to eat.
"I'm always on the road, and it can be really difficult to eat healthy. foodtweeks makes it incredibly easy for me to choose better options. But that's not even the best part! It actually inspires me. By using the App to become more aware of my food choices, foodtweeks gives the calories I don't want to someone who needs them, by donating to my local food bank."
Every time an Embers fan downloads and uses the app, they can help feed a hungry family by "giving" those calories to their own local foodbank. And any user who enters the promo code EMBERS will automatically have their donations doubled.
With the kick off of this union, Woolard will be seeking to ignite a revolution in the daily routines of his health conscious audience by uniting them with the tech-savvy smartphone users, both on stage and digitally, utilizing the influence of The Embers music.
