Although some of it is indeed far-fetched, much of it is a reflection of my feelings on the state of the world from the perspective of a non-human. A lover of sociology and psychology, Wesley Florence is the also the author of numerous essays, research articles, and short stories. His love for sociology often comes out in his work, in addition to the psychological dissection of its main characters. "In writing 'First World Canary', delving into the minds of everyone in the household was the most fun of all. Personifying animals is something I'd never done before, but I enjoyed it immensely... it opened up a whole new realm of possibilities within the story".
