Fremont Micro Devices Announces the FT8260 LED Driver Design Kit

    FREMONT, CA, July 11, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Fremont Micro Devices USA Inc. announced a new design kit for the FT8260 LED Driver Family that reduces the design time for Isolated LED driver designs. The FT8260 is a single stage LED Driver integrated circuit with high PF. The extremely low start-up and operating current reduces power consumption which improves system reliability.

The reference design targets lighting products including LED Lamps and T-8 tubes. "The design kit includes a functional evaluation board plus the schematic circuit diagram, PCB layout, bill of materials, transformer specification and performance data for 18W LED driver design," said Jim Panfil, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, for Fremont Micro Devices USA. "These tools decrease time to market because the evaluation board is fully functional and debugged. The schematic includes a wiring circuit diagram and electrical specifications," he added.

The LED evaluation module dimensions are 216 x 17.5 x10mm. Input is 90-264 Vac, Output is 40Vdc. The efficiency is rated 88% @115Vac /230Vac, the PF value is 0.90 and THD _15%. The design meets EN55015B EMI requirements.

The FT8260 integrated circuit in a SOT23-6 package has a list price of $0.11 for volume orders of 10ku.
