Seeing DownTown Mystic on the same charts with so many of my musical heroes and so many great records from younger artists is very encouraging.
NEW YORK, NY, July 21, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ten months ago the self-titled DownTown Mystic album debuted on the Americana Music Assn. Radio Charts, where it stayed until last week, culminating a run that was unforeseen and unprecedented in DownTown Mystic's career. After 40 consecutive weeks of radio play, the most US airplay to date for the Americana/Roots Rocker, DownTown Mystic's musical brand is on the rise.
Of the many chart highlights that the record received, nothing can surpass the single, Way To Know, going to #1 on the Roots Music Report Alt/Rock Song Chart and the album going to #3 on the RMR Alt/Rock Album Chart in the same week. The Roots Music Report is the #1 Independent Music Chart in the world and at one time, DownTown Mystic was on 7 charts in 4 different genres.
Way To Know features Hall of Fame E Street Band rockers Garry Tallent on bass and Max Weinberg on drums, helping the track to cross over to the Rock and Alt/Rock Charts. The man behind DownTown Mystic is Robert Allen, who wrote and produced the track. He's been enjoying the ride so far and says, "Just being able to put out music that's being heard is a big thrill. The response from Radio this time around was fantastic, but 10 months on the charts is surreal. Seeing DownTown Mystic on the same charts with so many of my musical heroes and so many great records from younger artists is very encouraging."
Sha-La Music SrVP Barbara Szala says that the long term plan has been to build and take DownTown Mystic to the next level. She adds, "We can say there's a DownTown Mystic Brand now after years of hard work. The music speaks for itself and the sound is unique to what is out there." With the album having run its course at Americana Radio in the US, plans are in progress for a release in Europe, where DownTown Mystic's previous release Standing Still, via Sony Music, drew critical acclaim. Robert adds, "We'll be looking to change some of the tracks for Europe and make it a bit more rock-leaning."
If the radio airplay for DownTown Mystic has been successful, then the Sync Licensing of the music on TV is off the charts! Robert credits Jingle Punks for getting his music on TV. Jingle Punks is the hip NYC boutique music licensing company that has been one of the leaders in supplying music for Cable and Network TV shows. Robert comments, "Jingle Punks is such a cool music company because everyone that works there seems to be a musician. Jingle Jared Gutstadt (CEO and Co-Founder) has assembled a group of very talented creative people." The company has seen steady growth, expanding to offices in LA, Nashville, London, Toronto and even down in Sydney.
Becoming an Exclusive Jingle Punks Artist has proven to be quite beneficial for Downtown Mystic. "Jingle Punks placed Way To Know on The Voice at least a half dozen times, including one of the Live Finals shows," recalls Robert. "That was the #1 show in the US at the time and I've got to believe that millions of people have heard it, even if only subliminally," he laughs. There might be some truth there. Sha-La Music released 3 Digital Singles by DownTown Mystic in 2013, including Way To Know, that garnered worldwide radio play on over 10,000 stations prior to the release of the DownTown Mystic album.
Besides having DownTown Mystic with Jingle Punks, Robert has also caught on with another rising star in the Sync field -- Eddie Caldwell of Music of The Sea in Chicago. Robert's outside work as a Writer/Producer paid off when Eddie placed a track of Robert's called Fly Like The Wind with Alexandra Patsavas of Chop Shop Music, for the 80s-based show The Carrie Diaries. Patsavas, arguably the #1 Music Supervisor in LA, would end up selecting 3 of Robert's songs for the show.
While the DownTown Mystic Brand continues to grow via radio and syncs, the artist is about to have music included in an upcoming Indie film due out next year called From Point A to Point B that's already receiving a good deal of buzz in Hollywood. Most recently, thanks to Jingle Punks, DownTown Mystic has 2 tracks Lost & Found and No Exceptions featured in a web video promoting Dr. Pepper and 8-time Female Wrestling Champ/Country Singer, Mickie James.
The video features James as being "1 of a kind," like Dr. Pepper, which is a perfect setting for DownTown Mystic's brand of "vintage yet modern" music -- a unique "1 of a kind" sound...just like the artist who now looks to take things to the next level.
