ATLANTA, GA, July 23, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- According to a new Harvard study published in Diabetologia, it may be possible to decrease your risk of developing Type 2 diabetes by increasing your daily consumption of coffee. J. Martinez & Company, a seller of specialty coffee, wishes to explain the study and its findings.
While previous studies found a definite correlation between coffee consumption and a lower risk for developing Type 2 diabetes, no study had looked at whether increasing your consumption of coffee each day would further reduce your risk. The Harvard study examined a group of more than 100,000 men and women for several years to determine whether changing coffee consumption by increasing or decreasing it had an impact on the participants developing Type 2 diabetes.
The researchers discovered a definite correlation between increasing or decreasing the amount of coffee consumed and the participants' risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. Participants who increased their coffee consumption by more than 1 cup per day had an 11 percent lower risk of developing Type 2 diabetes when compared to people who made no changes to their coffee drinking habits. Individuals who decreased their coffee consumption saw a 17 percent higher risk for Type 2 diabetes.
"Though the best way to protect yourself against Type 2 diabetes is through proper nutrition and regular exercise, we are pleased that coffee can help to play a vital role in avoiding diabetes as well," says John Martinez, Owner of J. Martinez & Company.
