RALEIGH, NC, July 24, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Community Affordable Housing Equity Corporation (CAHEC) recently named Brentwood Place, a new multifamily rental community in Forsyth, GA, this year's Outstanding Family Development.
Brentwood Place was developed by In-Fill Housing, Inc., the nonprofit development affiliate of the Housing Authority of Macon, GA, and development consultant Tapestry Development Group of Decatur, GA. June Parker, CEO of the Macon Housing Authority, and Anthony Hayes, development manager of In-Fill Housing, accepted the award at CAHEC's annual Partners Conference held at the Raleigh, NC, Convention Center.
Brentwood Place is the first multifamily property to be built in Forsyth in more than 15 years. The 80-unit apartment community is also the City's first project financed with Low Income Housing Tax Credits. Reduced rents are available to qualified working households earning from 50% to 60% of the area median income.
"On behalf of our team, partners and community, we are honored to accept this recognition," said Bruce Gerwig, President of In-Fill Housing. "The true honor, however, is knowing we continue to make a difference by providing affordable housing to those who need it."
Affordability is only the first of the property's many desirable qualities. Brentwood Place features a secured entrance, playground and covered pavilion with a grilling area, which strengthen the sense of community among residents. Additional amenities enhance residents' quality of life: a 3,300-square foot community building that includes a leasing office, game room, community room, fireplace, kitchen, laundry facility, fitness center and covered porch. The property's 80 one-, two- and three-bedroom units reached capacity in only five months.
"It is our pleasure to recognize the best in the industry each year with our awards program," said Dana Boole, President and CEO of CAHEC. "Through these trusted community partnerships, dedicated developers and property managers allow us to fulfill our mission to provide communities with affordable housing and opportunities for growth and revitalization by investing in qualified tax credit products."
Brentwood Place, In-Fill Housing's 12th LIHTC property, is designed to meet Earthcraft multifamily standards. Financing for the $10.2 million project included Federal and Georgia State Low Income Housing Credits, HOME funding from Georgia's Department of Community Affairs and Affordable Housing Program funding from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta.
