MediPurpose's product range's features, benefits and value are perfectly positioned to satisfy increasing Latin American demand for medical products."
ATLANTA, GA, July 26, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- MediPurpose(tm), a master distributor and manufacturer of medical products, today announced an extended partnership with IVD Export Consultants, a U.K.-based medical device consultancy with worldwide affiliates.
IVDEC will now provide marketing and sales support for MediPurpose's expanding medical product portfolio in a steadily growing Latin America market-a $10.5 billion market that is expected to reach $20 billion by 2015. This follows last month's announcement that IVDEC will be providing similar support for MediPurpose medical products in EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia).
IVDEC Senior Consultant Ian Southam, the company's primary liaison with MediPurpose, will oversee Ruben Ortiz, IVDEC's new Latin America regional sales manager.
"We are enthused by MediPurpose's trust in us to manage their Latin American medical product sales and marketing support," said Southam. "Their product range's features, benefits and value are perfectly positioned to satisfy increasing Latin American demand for medical products-especially safety medical devices such as the babyLance(tm) safety heelstick and SurgiLance(tm) safety lancet, as well as MediPlus(tm) Advanced Wound Care dressings.
"With Ruben's blend of local market knowledge, international contacts and an understanding of best routes to market, we are well placed to aid MediPurpose's customers in product acquisition, support and customer service."
"Local" Customer Service in a Global Medical Device Environment
No matter how well a medical product manufacturer can satisfy a country or region's growing demands for imports, MediPurpose's ongoing success (and their customer's ongoing satisfaction) is closely related to how well it can continue to deliver the customer service and support for which it is known, said MediPurpose founder and CEO Patrick Yi. It was precisely that perspective that motivated him to seek the services of IVDEC.
"As a global company in the 21st century, we can-and frequently do-rely upon technology to provide the very high standards of communication, support and service for which we are known," said Yi. "However, it's supremely important to have 'local' support that can satisfy the unique needs and challenges relative to our international customers' home countries. We are confident that IVDEC and Ruben will satisfy that objective for our customers in Latin America."
Responding to International Shifts in Adoption and Regulations for Safety Medical Devices
Although Latin American import demand for virtually all medical products has been on the incline, evolving awareness and legislation for safety medical devices-such as Brazil's NR 32 (passed in 2005), which requires the use of safety-engineered devices to reduce needlestick injuries-are part of a continuum that has been building worldwide for years, said Yi.
For instance, Yi referenced the analogous U.S. 2000 Needlestick Safety and Prevention Act, which was a critical factor for the rapid adoption of the SurgiLance(tm) safety lancet that he launched in 1999, and the babyLance(tm) safety heelstick he launched in 2009. He's since witnessed the impact of similar legislation in numerous countries and anticipates the trend to sustain.
"There's no question that the Act opened lots of doors-and minds-to the immediate and long-term benefits of using medical devices with sharps injury prevention features in the United States," said Yi. "And, as we've continued to see more countries enact regulations and adopt best practices that require safety devices, the more we've been motivated to ensure availability and support for our products in those countries."
For instance, Yi said that babyLance was developed with the cooperation of neonatal nurses from countries around the globe, from the United States to Austria to Singapore. "Along with listening to their expectations for an 'ideal heelstick,' their feedback was instrumental in not only 'universally' validating the device's design and performance, but also its ease of use and instructions for use and training. Of course, we've put an equal emphasis on maintaining those communication channels so we can continue to provide innovative solutions and support."
Considerable forethought and collaboration are required to fulfill that ambition, said Yi. "We have patents, trademarks and other intellectual property protection for all of our medical products in countries on six continents, as well as packaging and instructions that have been translated into nearly two dozen languages," said Yi. "Likewise, we've taken careful steps to identify qualified partners-such as IVDEC-that reinforce our high standards for customer service, no matter the geography."
