Julia Chen Recognized for Excellence in Manufacturing

Julia Chen started AM&M Advanced Machine and Materials Inc. from scratch in 2005, transforming a unique technology into a world-leading manufacturing business by selling solar and solder powder to companies including Henkel, GE, Alent, and NASA, as well as other leaders in the solar industry and the semiconductor industry worldwide. In May 2014, she sold the business to the public company 5N Plus Inc., which is headquartered in Montreal. As such, she works with global companies that are interested in a variety of metal powders, attends conferences and plays a role in business development. Ms. Chen's work has garnered her several awards including Forty Under 40 of 2013 from the Ottawa Business Journal & Ottawa Chamber of Commerce and Immigrant Entrepreneur of 2013 from the City of Ottawa. Ms. Chen is a graduate of The University of Texas at Dallas where she earned a Master of Science in management accounting. She also holds a bachelor's degree in business law, earned in China. She is affiliated with SMTA, AceTech and the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce, and also supports Chinese Community Organization in Ottawa.
