NEW YORK, NY, August 01, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- IT'S ABOUT TIME ("IAT"), a leading STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education publisher, announces today the formation of a new Board of Advisors for helping advance its student-focused educational mission. Dr. Arthur Eisenkraft, a distinguished science professor and STEM educator and reformer, has joined IAT's new Advisory Board as a Founding Member.

Dr. Eisenkraft currently serves as the Distinguished Professor of Science Education, Professor of Physics, and Director of the Center of Space and Math in Context (COSMIC) at the University of Massachusetts Boston. His professional background includes 25 years of experience in high school science education and middle-school and high-school curriculum development and implementation. For his extensive record in teaching and related work, Eisenkraft has received multiple distinctions, including the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, the American Association of Physics Teachers Millikan Medal, the Disney Corporation's Science Teacher of the Year, and the NSTA Robert Carleton Award.

Outside of the classroom, Eisenkraft has been a strong, active, and much-respected proponent of the broad-reaching benefits of STEM education. At present, he serves as Chair of the Science Academic Advisory Committee of the College Board, and as Chair and Co-Creator of the Toshiba/NSTA ExploraVision Awards, which engages with 15,000 students annually. For interactive student learning, he is also Project Director of both the Active Physics and the Active Chemistry projects - multi-level platforms, backed by the National Science Foundation, that take an engaging, dynamic approach to science education.

The appointment of Dr. Einsenkraft to IAT's Board of Advisors was a natural fit. Dr. Eisenkraft explains: "IT'S ABOUT TIME has consistently been at the forefront of transferring research into practice. They have published products that provide students with opportunities to practice science rather than merely read about science. As a member of the Board of Advisors, I look forward to supporting IAT in their efforts and engaging in conversations about the future of science education."

Eisenkraft's leadership and track record will be a tremendous asset to IAT as it continues to connect students and educators with opportunities in ground-breaking, hands-on, project-based science instruction. IAT Co-Founder and Managing Partner Laurie Kriendler notes: "As a pioneer in science education for the past three decades, no one understands and has fought for empowering teachers and students more than Arthur Eisenkraft. We are thrilled to have him as the Founding Member of our Advisory Board and look forward to envisioning and creating schools of the future."
