EL PASO, TX, August 04, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The GECU Foundation presented El Paso Community College (EPCC) a $10,000 check for student scholarships. The check was presented on-field at the Wednesday, July 23rd El Paso Chihuahuas vs. Sacramento River Cats baseball game.
The GECU Foundation provides scholarships to students pursuing higher education in the El Paso community. The donation was presented by GECU President and CEO, Crystal Long, and GECU Chairman of the Board, Greg Watters to EPCC President Dr. William Serrata and EPCC Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Art Fierro. El Paso Chihuahuas General Manager, Brad Taylor, and El Paso Chihuahuas mascot, Chico also participated in the presentation.
Crystal Long, GECU President and CEO, stated, "The GECU Foundation was established to maintain GECU's standards of excellence and remain a pillar in the community by funding grants and scholarships. GECU, through its Foundation, is committed to providing a community support program that upholds the philosophy of people helping people."
The GECU Foundation scholarships will be used for EPCC students majoring in Business, Accounting and Information Technology (IT). The 2014 award is for $1,000 per student.
