LAS VEGAS, NV, August 13, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ask author Meredith Allard about her newest novel, That You Are Here, and she'll say it's about the universal struggle for self-acceptance. The two romantic leads, Andrew Whittaker and Mark Bryce, struggle to stay together. Of the two, Andrew struggles more. "He needs to come to terms with the fact that he's in love with another man in order to find peace with himself," Allard says. "Most people have to learn to feel comfortable in their own skin, whether they're gay or straight."
What differentiates That You Are Here from other m/m romances is the literary, poetic style of Allard's prose. "That You Are Here isn't an erotic romance," Allard says. "That You Are Here is about love -- falling in love and staying in love in a complicated world. Andrew Whittaker and Mark Bryce have quite a journey to travel together, and I hope they are a couple readers cheer for."
That You Are Here is Allard's way of adding her voice alongside others who think that people who are in love should be able to get married, an especially timely topic since 19 U.S. states have legalized same-sex marriage.
Which readers will That You Are Here appeal to? Fans of LGBT literature, Allard says, though she hopes the novel will reach a broad readership. "The story is about universal themes such as love, trust, and family," she says, "things anyone can relate to." Fans of Annie Proulx's "Brokeback Mountain" should give That You Are Here a try.
About That You Are Here:
On the outside, handsome, successful attorney Andrew Whittaker has everything in life. On the inside, he has everything too, only he doesn't know it. He hides the love of his life, Mark Bryce, from his family and everyone else where he lives in Portland, Oregon. Soon the weight of the secret becomes too much for Andrew.
