CAE Successfully Delivers Secure CLA+ Assessments at Home, School, and Workplace

Online proctoring allows students to take the Collegiate Learning Assessment (CLA+) at home and obtain a valuable career-readiness credential

NEW YORK, NY, August 19, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- CAE (www.cae.org), a leading provider of career- and college-readiness assessments, announced today that it has successfully administered its first round of online proctored assessments. Online proctoring allows students to take secure tests over the Internet, in the convenience of their home, school or office.

"We are excited to have this service available," said Roger Benjamin, president of CAE. "With the addition of [online] proctoring, we can offer career- and college-readiness assessments to more students, with greater convenience, security, and ease."

CAE has remotely delivered a growing number of its assessments since January of this year and expects a rapid increase in online testing over the next 12 months. "It is more convenient for students," said Benjamin. "[Online] proctoring makes it easier for students to schedule around their own lives."

Participating institutions agree that online proctoring of the CLA+ is a success. "The CLA+ remote-proctoring service worked very well for us in our spring quarter," said Matthew Segaard, Ph.D., assistant vice president of institutional research and assessment at Rasmussen College. "It allowed us to more easily deliver the CLA+ to seniors taking an online general education skills seminar. The ability to take the test [online] was a convenience for students, and it helped us to manage our on-campus proctoring processes."

The online proctoring services are provided by ProctorU, based in Birmingham, Ala. Students have reported a satisfactory experience with online proctoring of the CLA+, according to a ProctorU survey. "We are delighted to be working with CAE," said Don Kassner president of ProctorU. "Students can now take CAE's critical-thinking and problem-solving assessments under secure conditions in the convenience of their home, school, or workplace."

About ProctorU

ProctorU provides live proctoring services to make online testing more secure. The service allows examinees to take any test, anywhere. As an extension of the institution, ProctorU helps ensure the academic integrity of not only colleges and universities, but also that of their exam candidates. Proctors do this through a three-step approach to authenticate a test-taker's identity: see the test-taker, see what they're doing and know who they are. Founded in 2008, ProctorU has administered nearly 1 million exams for test-takers in 75 countries and works with more than 500 institutions. The company has four facilities across the U.S. and employs over 400 people.
