Ferman Nissan in Tampa Showcases Supercars at Goodwood Festival of Speed

    TAMPA, FL, August 21, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Goodwood Festival of Speed, held each year in England to showcase the cars of the past and future, celebrated the 15th anniversary of the Gran Turismo video racing game for PlayStation. The upgraded game features the famed and revised 2014 Goodwood hillclimb course. This vehicle is a bold, black, dramatically swept-back concept car aimed directly at gamers. With games, social media, and virtual reality playing a large part in the lives of millennials and "Gen Z" kids, having a striking car that can be virtually raced up the Goodwood hillclimb means as much as having a cool car parked in the neighbor's driveway. In addition to cool cars, Nissan brought Olympic champions to Goodwood. Brand ambassadors included London 2012 Paralympic gold medalist Richard Whitehead and 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic bronze medalist Jenny Jones. (1) On Saturday, Olympic cycling champion Sir Chris Hoy took the wheel of a Nissan GT-R NISMO supercar and crashed on the infamous Molecomb corner. He was able to return to the race the next day. Nissan's athlete had taken the GT-R NISMO up the hillclimb several times, but only virtually. This year's Goodwood weekend was his first real-world attack on the route. He turned in a respectable time of 48.05 seconds, which was good enough for fourth place overall. It was also fast enough to set the supercar record for the course. (1)
