Audiences are going to have a thrill out of it and a few surprises as well. It will put them in the back of their seat.

LOS ANGELES, CA, August 29, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Zack Peladeau, a 20-year old film and TV actor from Alfred, Ontario, Canada, is making his independent feature film debut in "Blackburn," a horror picture about five college friends who get trapped in a small Alaskan ghost town following a forest fire and rock slide.

Directed by Lauro Chartrand ("Born to Raise Hell," "True Justice") and written by the award-winning Natasha Baron ("Kingdoms of Grace"), the film is expected to have a theatrical Halloween release in Canada. Baron, W. Corr Pearce and John Sereda (3Brane Entertainment) produced. It was shot in Squamish, British Columbia, and the film's teaser will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, which begins Thursday, Sept. 4.

"I think it's a thrilling ride," said Peladeau, who also stars in Lifetime's movie, "Guilty at 17," with Erin Sanders ("Zoey 101"). "Audiences are going to have a thrill out of it and a few surprises as well. It will put them in the back of their seat. It's pretty intense."

Peladeau plays Shaun, a principal role in the ensemble cast who is a teacher's assistant to Jade, played by three-time Leo Award winning actress Sarah Lind ("Edgemont").

"He thinks she's something special," Peladeau said. "Throughout the whole story, he really cares for her security. As long as Jade is fine, he keeps on going. He's one tough character."

Baron said, "Zack has a star quality that lights up any scene he's in. His ability to carry a scene and his innate enthusiasm to learn and grow in his craft made him stand out among his peers and identified him to us as a rising talent."

Also starring are Leo Award winner Emilie Ullerup ("jPod"), Calum Worthy (Disney Channel's "Austin & Ally"), Lochlyn Munro ("Freddy vs. Jason"), Ken Kirzinger ("Friday the 13th Part VIII"), Alexander Calvert ("Lost Boys: The Tribe") and Brad Loree ("X-Men 2").

Chartrand, who is credited on more than 150 films, more than 100 TV titles and has worked as a stuntman in the likes of "Rise of the Planet of the Apes," "The Incredible Hulk" and "The Last Samurai," gave Peladeau the opportunity to perform many of his own stunts in "Blackburn."

"The fun of it was the whole stunt thing," Peladeau said. "There was a lot of fighting, running and physical work, which I liked a lot."

Baron said Peladeau performed 90 percent of his own stunts and added, "Our film was shot under extremely challenging physical conditions and across nights from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. each day. Despite long nights, dangerous surroundings and moving up and down what seemed like an endless flight of stairs, Zack never complained, always carried himself professionally and took on additional aspects of his role willingly and with grace."

Peladeau previously acted in principal roles in the TV movie "Crisis Point" starring Rhona Mitra ("Shooter") and in Syfy's Canadian Screen Award-winning series, "Being Human." He plays Devon in an upcoming episode of "Mohawk Girls" that's due out in November and will be broadcast in Canada on APTN and OMNI.

Peladeau reunited with "Guilty at 17" director Anthony Lefresne for the forthcoming 2015 TV movie, "Obsessed on Campus," playing the role of Craig. He acted in the historical drama, "Tell the World," with Bill Lake ("Flash of Genius"), Tommie-Amber Pirie ("What If") and Stephen MacDonald ("Total Recall"). Peladeau's short filmography includes acting as leads in Joseph Procopio's "Cinder" and "Onion Skin," and Yael Staav's "Sam's Formalwear."

Originally discovered by Angie's Model and Talent (Ottawa) when he was 16 years old, Peladeau is now managed by Hollywood veteran Robert Stein, who formerly managed Heath Ledger and Mark Ruffalo, and currently represents "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" and "Zero Dark Thirty" star Jason Clarke, Grant Gustin ("The Flash") and more.
