BOSTON, MA, September 04, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bob Thomas is to speak at the American Bar Association's Section of Public Contract Law on August 8, 2014 regarding Recent Cases Interpreting the False Claims Act and Consequences for Conducting Internal Investigations, which is being held in conjunction with the 2014 Annual Meeting of the American Bar Association taking place in Boston this year.
Bob will join several other esteemed speakers from government, the private sector, and the whistleblower bar in a session covering recent developments in the case law of the False Claims Act. In the past few years, courts have issued a number of decisions interpreting the substantive liability provisions and procedural defenses of the False Claims Act. On some of these important issues, courts are diverging in their approaches, increasing the level of uncertainty for government contractors and other parties, and suggesting that some of these issues will find their way to the Supreme Court.
The session will take place the Hyatt Regency, Boston, from 9 a.m. to noon. For a link to the ABA program, go to http://bit.ly/1oQIBam. Bob Thomas' article on "The Next Big Thing" in the False Claims Act, which is included in the course materials, can also be found on the Whistleblower Law Collaborative's blog at http://bit.ly/1rQZBQ9.
