Ferman Nissan in Tampa Talks About the Nissan Frontier Diesel
The Nissan Frontier Runner with a turbo Cummins diesel debuted at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show.
TAMPA, FL, September 18, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Nissan gave its midsize truck fans a glimpse of a possible future when it unveiled the Frontier Diesel Runner at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show. Based on the Frontier Desert Runner 4x2, the Diesel Runner has a turbo charged Cummins diesel four-cylinder with nearly 200 horsepower and more than 350 pound-feet of torque. (1)
Nissan is using the concept truck at the auto show to gauge consumer reaction to a diesel engine in a midsize pickup. One feature that will likely sway show-goers toward the Frontier Diesel Runner is that despite having all that power and torque, it gets 35 percent better fuel economy than the V-6-powered 2014 Frontier 4x2 now on sale at Ferman Nissan in Tampa. Exterior cues make it plain that this is no ordinary Frontier. The truck was shown in a custom "Arrest Me Red" and matte silver paint, a full tonneau cover for improved aerodynamic flow and a transparent acrylic window in the hood so you can watch the 2.8-liter diesel engine do its thing. (1)
The interior got special treatment too with red and carbon trimmed seats and panels, plus the front and rear seats have black on black "Tracks" embroidery. The instrument panel has red-tinted gauges, and Nissan has added a diesel-specific black-faced three-gauge pod. (1)
There's no word yet on when the Frontier Diesel Runner might hit Tampa dealerships, but Nissan has confirmed that a V-8 Cummins diesel will be available in the next generation of the full-size Titan pickup in 2015. (1)
