British Singer-Songwriter Announces New 'Mellow Acoustic Pop' EP 'Almost Strong Enough'

Singer-songwriter Verity Pabla to release "Almost Strong Enough" EP in February.

There is a real, genuine nature about this EP. It's very tender in parts, but also catchy. It has quite a thoughtful and melancholic feel at times, and then some songs are real upbeat.

LOS ANGELES, CA, September 19, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Verity Pabla, one of the UK's top contemporary acoustic pop singer-songwriters, is announcing "Almost Strong Enough," a new EP album releasing Feb. 2, 2015. The album will release through I'm not a machine music, the only all-female record label and music publisher in the UK.

Harmonizing an emotionally charming blend of guitar, violin and vocals, "Almost Strong Enough" is the 11th release from Pabla, a Coventry, UK native whose musicality has drawn comparisons to American singer-songwriters Jack Johnson and Norah Jones.

"There is a real, genuine nature about this EP," Pabla said. "It's very tender in parts, but also catchy. It has quite a thoughtful and melancholic feel at times, and then some songs are real upbeat. It's very much a reflection of my voice - soft and mellow, and full of honesty."

Produced by the UK's Ben Haines and recorded at his Groovefurnisher Studio in Birmingham, "Almost Strong Enough" features guitar and bass from Si Hayden, who has worked on more than 70 albums and is described by Guitarist Magazine as an "acoustic virtuoso." Hayden is also the founder of Silvery Records, which released Pabla's 2009 debut album, "Trust Again."

"It has been over five years since working on Trust Again, and with many gigs, releases and life experiences in between," said Hayden. "Whether recording, jamming, writing, performing or just hanging, all of the above have been a pleasure! To Verity, motivation and creativity seem as effortless as walking and breathing!"

Pabla has been writing original lyrics for more than 10 years and with "Almost Strong Enough," she explores spirituality, living out dreams, what it is to be "present in the moment" and being grateful for past experiences. The EP's first single is "Thank You," a duet with I'm not a machine music label mate and neo-soul vocalist Francesca Egan. A music video for the single is currently in development.

"The songs are very much about becoming strong enough in yourself," Pabla says, "to be who you really are in all areas of life. Thank You, in particular, is about the stage of a romantic relationship where, although it's been over for a long time, you're truly grateful for the experience. It's an interesting reflection on love. Throughout the EP, you gain that glimpse of light garnered from every life opportunity being explored. Musically, it's relatively 'simple,' but the depth is in the feeling. I can't write a song without honestly meaning it!"

With stints on Tryptyc Records, Silvery Records and now signed to I'm not a machine music, Pabla's previous releases include "Recompense," "A Song Yet Sung...Part One," "A Song Yet Sung...Part Two," "This Mess," "The Journey Live at Playwrights," "Step Forwards," "Trust Again," "Bamboo Sessions," "Glassbox Vol. 1" and "Calmly Contemplate." Her previous titles have released on physical platforms in the UK and New Zealand, and globally via digital distribution. She says "Almost Strong Enough" is "actually the end of a long journey. It's like when you go through a process of maturation - a phase in life is now done - then you turn over a new leaf and start anew..."

Pabla has collaborated as a leading vocalist with such distinguished artists as MyDevices, Sunim Koria, jazz trio Hojo, Sony/ATV artist Olivia Broadfield, New Zealand guitarist Warren George and the French-English producer VE Sound. She also was lead singer for the Verity Pabla Band, which featured Haines, Hayden and Egan, as well as acclaimed musicians Wayne Matthews, Patrick Goutanier and Jools Street. Her latest collaboration was with Scottish electronic duo, Modifier, who just released the EP - "Haptic" - on Glaswegian label, High Sheen Records, that features the track "Under The Window" with Pabla's songwriting and lead vocals.

Previously sponsored by luxury Danish sound systems and electronics manufacturer Bang & Olufsen, Pabla's music has received radio play on BBC Introducing Coventry & Warwickshire and Radio Ponsonby in Auckland (NZ). She has performed at many renowned venues including the main stage of the Godiva Festival (UK) and live shows in New Zealand's North Island, as well as an appearance representing the British Council during the Brits at the Beach event.

"Almost Strong Enough" will have digital distribution on iTunes and Amazon, as well a special limited edition physical release through I'm not a machine music. "I'm not a machine music is in many ways more than just a music company," Pabla said. "It is a brand spreading ideas of kindness, humanitarian values and female empowerment."
