Dr. Ma joins other plastic surgeons Dr. Shenker and Dr. Amy L. Chesney at the Waterloo clinic, which also includes a Royal College-certified anesthesiologist, experienced nurses, a medical laser technician, and professional staff.
"Dr. Ma is a very talented and extremely well-trained plastic surgeon," Dr. Shenker says. "She was raised in Montreal, which is my hometown, and earned her medical degree from McGill University after getting an undergraduate degree in physiotherapy."
Dr. Chesney and Dr. Ma trained together at McMaster University, where Dr. Ma completed her plastic surgery residency before accepting a fellowship that included training in Brazil and Spain. The Cosmetic Surgery Clinic is the only plastic surgery practice in Southwestern Ontario to feature a team of 3 plastic surgeons, including 2 women who offer patients their unique perspective of procedures such as mommy makeovers and breast augmentation.
The Kitchener-Waterloo area practice is also dedicated to expanding breast reconstruction services at Cambridge Memorial Hospital for patients throughout the region who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. The team performs major surgery covered by Ontario Health Insurance Plan at the hospital. Other procedures covered by OHIP and all cosmetic surgeries are done at the clinic's surgical center, a certified independent health facility that is fully accredited by the Canadian Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities (CAAASF).
In addition to specializing in breast reconstruction, Dr. Ma's practice includes a range of procedures such as cosmetic breast surgery, hand surgery, and reconstructive facial plastic surgery.
