He has argued 10 cases to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, two cases in Idaho Supreme Court, and four cases to the Idaho Court of Appeals.
Mr. Ball started his legal career in 1996 after earning a JD from the University of Idaho College of Law. He had initially planned to pursue a career in medicine, but after taking various political science classes which introduced him to the legal system, he realized that a career in law would allow him to help people just as much as a career in medicine.
Jim has been a member of the law firm of Manweiler, Breen, Ball & Davis, PLLC, since 2002. He represents clients facing DUI and federal and state misdemeanor and felony charges. He also specializes in juvenile law, personal injury, wills, family law, business, and appeals. Mr. Ball serves on the Criminal Justice Act Panel for the United States District Court of Idaho, representing clients in federal criminal cases. Prior to his work with Manweiler, Breen, Ball & Davis, PLLC, Mr. Ball was in private practice for two years. Before that, he prosecuted crimes ranging from misdemeanors to violent felonies as Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in Ada County and served as the Lobbyist for the Idaho Prosecuting Attorneys Association from 1998 to 2000. In this latter role, he was involved in drafting criminal legislation and testifying in committee meetings and hearings throughout the state of Idaho.
Recently inducted into Worldwide Registry, Jim maintains affiliation with the United States Supreme Court, United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, United States District Court, District of Idaho, Idaho State Bar, United States District Court of Idaho's Criminal Justice Act Panel, Idaho State Bar IOLTA Committee, Fourth District Bar Association, Idaho Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, Idaho Volunteer Lawyers, Idaho Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Idaho Trial Lawyers Association and Ada County Court's Domestic Violence Court Committee.
