NEWARK, DE, October 11, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Formation of the Missing Man is a book targeting men wishing to address fears, issues and failures often silently endured. As various topics are addressed, there is a time for personal or group reflection in which one will look inside for the problem as well as solution to an often hidden pain. While it may be presented in a humorous fashion, it causes men to reflect on painful and often debilitating issues that have been hidden.
The author's inspiration for the book came from "the fact that churches, religious organizations and often clergy don't pierce the defensive exterior of men," said Davis. "While there may be attempts to get behind the manly veil, pains or inadequacies are often masked and hidden by societal norms and thereby never addressed. Only the man himself can provide access to those things that torment and often imprison him."
Published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises, the book will be available upon its release through bookstores nationwide, from the publisher at www.tatepublishing.com/bookstore, or by visiting barnesandnoble.com or amazon.com.
Dr. Davis was raised in a dysfunctional home with abusive family members, which caused him to become very angry and produced the necessary violence to survive and attempt to control my environment outside of the home. During this time, he began reading and using that as an escape from his circumstances. He also began searching for the God that he remembered speaking to him when he was five years old. This led him to many different religious readings; Nation of Islam publications, Jehovah's Witness handouts, Baptist Sunday School Manuals and Guidepost Magazines. Eventually, he went directly to the Bible while enrolled in Catholic Schools. His passion for reading, combined with the encouragement of a high school English teacher, led to a talent, love of writing. He used this love when in a PTSD program he was instructed to find some "art" project to express himself. Davis was given a pen and began to express his pain, healing and then acceptance that he could not change the past; his first published work. Since then, writing has become a viable communication tool for him; beginning from being a catharsis into the present desire for communication.
Dr. Davis served in the United States Army before completing his Masters of Theological Studies and Doctorate of Theology and Pastoral Studies. In his spare time, he enjoys missions work, international travel, jazz music, fishing, vegetable gardening and cooking. He jokes he has "never met a stranger."
