City Business Solutions' Guide to Reconnecting with Potential Customers

Direct marketing specialists City Business Solutions offer their advice on how to re-connect with potential customers to secure a deal.

CHICAGO, IL, October 16, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- City Business Solutions says that after not hearing from a potential prospect for a while, do not assume that the deal is dead; instead try to re-connect with them. Sometimes it is best to give a potential customer a little 'nudge' to find out what's going on and whether the opportunity is real. This is not to say that hassling them for a sale is a good idea, this will just aggravate the consumer and make them even less likely to close the deal. It is just a way of reconnecting with them to establish a better relationship and discover whether they are at all interested in the product/service.

To help businesses wishing to reconnect with potential prospects, City Business Solutions has shared their 7 tips to do just this:

The Simple Reminder
Remind the consumer of the company name, product and the deal and ask if they need any additional support in the decision-making process.

The Scheduling Challenge
Be understanding e.g. "I understand you've got a lot on your plate but I'm just trying to get a feel for what the team here might need to deliver. If you have any news about the project, anything you could share would be appreciated."

The Personal Plea
Ask if the customer has any good news about the project maybe adding, "I've got my manager breathing down my neck for a forecast."

The ROI Revisit
Remind the consumer of the math. Highlight exactly what the consumer will be getting in return for their investment, in real money.

The End of the Line
If the customer has not replied for a lengthy period of time, inform them that 'I hate to do so but I must close the file.' Follow this up by saying "we can resubmit our ideas once you are in a better position to move forward on a solution" so that the customer knows they are welcome for future business.

The Indirect Reminder
Send a humorous card tied to a holiday. This gets the brand name in front of the prospect in a non-confrontational way. The buyer may call to thank and then the conversation can be turned to the stalled sale.

The Note of Concern
Express concern for the person's well-being, saying that 'I hope you are well but did not get the sense you were the kind of person to leave someone hanging so wanted to check you were okay.'

City Business Solutions points out that only one of these tips should be used per customer, not all of them, and that which tip is used depends on the relationship already established with the consumer.
