SHANGHAI'S TALLEST STRUCTURE
The Shanghai Tower/skyscraper under construction is now the tallest of a group of three adjacent supertall buildings in Shanghai. It is on schedule to open to the public in 2015.
Following its topping out on 3 August 2014, the Shanghai Tower is currently the tallest tower in the world. It is also China's tallest structure of any kind, surpassing the 600-metre (2,000 ft) Canton Tower in Guangzhou.
RECORD SETTING CONSTRUCTION
The tower has already smashed some world records: At the time of their installation in 2013 the tower had the world's fastest single-deck elevators (18 metres/second) and double-deck elevators (10 metres/second).The building holds the record for the world's furthest-travelling single elevator, at 578.5 metres. It will have numerous entertainment venues inside the site to delight children of all ages.
Convention and exhibition visitors to the city will be able to enjoy activities in addition to business and trade while visiting the Pearl of the Orient and all without paying visa fees provided they are in Shanghai no more than 72 hours and have tickets booked to a follow-on destination.
