QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA, November 05, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- John B. Campbell, D.Phil., F.S.A. Scot., Adjunct Associate Professor, Anthropology, Archaeology and Sociology at James Cook University, has been recognized by Worldwide Branding for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in higher education.
With 49 years of experience in his field, Dr. Campbell is known for his expertise in archaeological heritage, space exploration and the development of protocols for preservation of space heritage, human evolution, forensic applications of archaeology, research, publishing, and cultural heritage. Daily, he is tasked with teaching, conducting research and providing Ph.D. supervision in archaeology, undertaking community engagement, providing forensic advice to police services and investigation authorities, and supplying advisement in heritage assessment and conservation to heritage and space authorities.
Prior to joining James Cook University, Dr. Campbell worked at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland as a lecturer from 1972 to 1974, the University of Oxford, England as a research associate from 1971 to 1972, and a Wenner-Gren Predoctoral Fellow from 1966 to 1971.
Named an Executive Professional of the Year by Worldwide Branding, Dr. Campbell attributes his success to his passion, perseverance and the excitement of discovering new things. He became involved in his profession because of the sustained interests he has held in archaeology and astronomy since childhood. The highlight of his career was having dinner with Sir Richard Branson to discuss the commercial development of space tourism, and the corresponding development of space heritage and space archaeology.
Well equipped to thrive in his field, Dr. Campbell earned a D.Phil (i.e. Ph.D.) in Archaeology at the University of Oxford, England in 1972. He is also the holder of a graduate diploma in prehistoric archaeology, and human evolution earned at the University of Oxford, England in 1966. Furthermore, he has earned a bachelor's degree in anthropology and liberal arts from Park University, Missouri in 1965.
In five years, Dr. Campbell will continue to conduct research in astrobiology and the search for the origins of life. He also intends to be part of the international effort to preserve various world archaeological monuments.
