DES MOINES, IA,November 11, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Michelle McGovem, Acting Workers Compensation commissioner for the Iowa Workforce Development, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in workers compensation and administrative law.
Mik.i McGovern has worked as a deputy workers compensation commissioner at the Iowa Department of Workforce Development since 1988. She commenced her employment with the agency on January 29, 1982. On September 9, 2014, Governor Teny Branstand appointed Ms. McGovern as acting workers' compensation commissioner. She is also an expert in workers' compensation and administrative law. She brings with her a background in workers' compensation and labor law and the ability to provide alternate dispute resolution. She is successful because of her hard work and perseverance, Ms. McGovern is a dedicated administrative law judge.
Ms. McGovern earned a JD from Drake University after obtaining a Master of Arts in educational psychology from the University of Iowa and a Bachelor of Science in English from Iowa State University.
In recognition of her excellence over three decades, she was named an AV preeminent attorney by Martindale-Hubbell. To remain current with trends in the legal field, Ms. McGovern affiliates with the Iowa State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Polk County .Bar Association, the Polk County Women Attorneys, the Iowa Organization of Women Attorneys, and the National Association of Women Judges.
