Dr. Swan's extensive education has played an instrumental role in propelling his career forward. He earned his medical degree from the Institute of Medicine, Rangoon, Burma and completed an externship in Internal Medicine at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, due to his excellence he continued on to an internship in internal medicine at the University Of Illinois College Of Medicine. Thereafter, he completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center/Cornell Medical Center, where he was chief of residents during his final year. He received the first award in the "Scientific Medical Research Literature Writing in Clinical Medicine" during his final year of Internal Medicine residency program in New York. To continue in his professional avidity, Dr. Swan completed a fellowship in nephrology at Lenox Hill Hospital/New York University Medical Center. He served as an honorable Board member of the Institutional Review Board at the Lenox Hill Hospital, New York. Here he established the very first Continuous VenoVenous Hemodiafiltration/Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy program for the Nephrology Department. For this achievement he received The Siebel Nephrology Fellow Award. He then completed an additional fellowship in Critical Care Medicine, where he concluded training and clinical research at the prestigious Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York.
He served as an Intensive Care and Cardiac Care Unit Committee Member of Raritan Bay Medical Center at Perth Amboy Division, and Old Bridge Division, New Jersey. He and also served as a Critical Care Committee Member at John F. Kennedy Hospital, New Jersey. For his excellence in teaching and training in clinical medicine he was prized with an award from the Internal Medicine Residency Program of the Raritan Bay Medical Center. He also contributes to continuing medical education and clinical medicine training to residents of the Family Medicine Program from John F. Kennedy Hospital, New Jersey.
He is a recognized member of the Burmese Medical Association of North America for his donation in the "Solar Panel Project Contribution for the Health Care of Displaced Burmese People in Thai Burma Border" and a movement actionist for the Cyclone Nargis Disaster Relief and Contribution in Burma.
His recognitions extend to the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School Excellent Teacher Award, 2013 and 2014. He received the USA Top Doctor award by Consumer Research of America. He is a Patient Choice Award winner from 2010-2014. He also received the Most Compassionate Doctor Award from 2010-2014.
He has received America's Top Physicians award in Internal Medicine, Nephrology, Hypertension and Critical Care Medicine by the consumers' research council of America.
