New Book Offers Natural Approach to Keeping Your Dogs and Cats Healthy Using Essential Oils

Great resource for pet owners to maintain good health and well-being in their dogs and cats during the holiday season and all year long

HACKENSACK, NJ, November 16, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Natural oils have been proven effective in maintaining good health and in the prevention of disease or illness in pets as well as people. And now all natural therapies for pets using essential oils are spelled out in a new book "SpOil Your Pet, A Practical Guide to Using Essential Oils in Dogs & Cats." The book focuses on maintaining good health and well-being in dogs and cats using essential oil therapies as a complement to traditional treatments. It also shares treatments using essential oils for over 60 different ailments, conditions and other issues that dogs and cats may have.

As we approach the holidays, pet owners should keep in mind that there are many applications for essential oils. Essential oils can be used to reduce stress brought on by a houseful of guests or digestive issues brought on from ingesting table food.

Both people and pets can benefit from the power of pure essential oils. Essential oils are the natural volatile, aromatic compounds obtained from the distillation of seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers and other parts of plants. Proven effective for hundreds of ailments, the use of essential oils dates back to ancient times. Some common essential oils include citrus oils, lavender and peppermint. Their use can provide relief of pain and discomfort without the use of drugs or provide greater relief than traditional treatments can provide alone.

"SpOil Your Pet, A Practical Guide to Using Essential Oils in Dogs & Cats" is written by two New Jersey natives, Dr. Mia Frezzo, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, and Jan Jeremias, a trained clinical scientist, a certified yoga instructor and reflexologist. Ms. Jeremias was introduced to essential oils to help with her 14 year old dog, Kasey, who had Canine Cognitive Disorder or old dog "dementia". At first skeptical about the power and benefits of using essential oils, she soon became convinced when her dog began acting and feeling better and lived to the age of 19. Ms. Jeremias had been using essential oils for over 9 years for herself, her family and her dog and cats when she met Dr. Frezzo, a veterinarian with over 15 years' experience. Dr. Frezzo was looking for ways to help her children stay healthier. She began using essential oils for herself and her family. After seeing such positive changes in her family's health, Dr. Frezzo began sharing the benefits of essential oils with clients to improve the health of their pets.

"We love our pets! They are family members, and they deserve only the best. We strive to give our pets the longest, healthiest lives possible and believe that the key to longevity is prevention of illness and maintenance of good health," shared Dr. Mia Frezzo. Dr. Frezzo adds "The use of essential oils is an effective complement to traditional veterinary medicine."

"This book was written to empower dog and cat owners to help their pets when they become sick. Rather than feeling helpless when a beloved pet is in pain or uncomfortable, pet owners can play an active role in their dog or cat's healthy recovery", explained Ms. Jeremias.

"SpOil Your Pet, A Practical Guide to Using Essential Oils in Dogs & Cats" is a perfect holiday gift for any dog or cat lover. The book is available by contacting Dr. Frezzo or Ms. Jeremias, or from the publisher at http://www.aromatools.com/SpOil_Your_Pet_Book_p/1170.htm.

About the Authors:

Dr. Mia Frezzo is a veterinarian, wife and mother of three young children, who reside in northern New Jersey. Her passion for veterinary medicine was initiated and fostered by her uncle, also a veterinarian, with whom she worked and studied since the age of 14. She graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998 and returned home to New Jersey to practice veterinary medicine. She is the owner and medical director for the Animal Hospital of Hasbrouck Heights in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey. Dr. Frezzo's patients, primarily dogs and cats, benefit greatly from her combined holistic and traditional approach with the emphasis on natural health and prevention of illness.

When her daughter was only 2 years old, Dr. Frezzo became increasingly frustrated with her daughter's lack of progress and dependence on medications for her chronic respiratory illness. Dr. Frezzo sought other remedies and turned to Jan Jeremias for help. Ms. Jeremias introduced Dr. Frezzo to the power of pure essential oils. Within just two weeks, her daughter's respiratory signs were fully resolved, convincing Dr. Frezzo of the power of essential oils.

Ms. Jeremias is a trained clinical research scientist, a certified yoga teacher and reflexologist. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Stern College for Women and a Master's Degree in Immunology of Infectious Diseases and a Diploma in Tropical Medicine from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine-University of London. Ms. Jeremias worked in clinical infectious disease and cancer research centers at Cornell University Medical College and Mount Sinai Medical School in New York City for over 20 years and worked for the New York City Department of Health (NYCDOH) for 4 years.

Since Ms. Jeremias began using essential oils over ten years ago, she has completed extensive coursework in aromatherapy and essential oils for animals. Her passion for natural health and her scientific background has allowed her to help and heal people and their pets worldwide as she continues to share essential oils with family, friends, students and clients.
