"At Retail Radio, we can play music simply because it's good and deserves to be played! Leihoku will be everywhere soon and I am glad we could be there at the beginning." -- Shawn Cash, Retail Radio
SACRAMENTO, CA, November 19, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Retail Radio loves new music -- and it loves the artists who make it even more. Shawn Cash, director of programming for Retail Radio, previously worked with Scott Emerson -- a former record rep for big-name artists and big-time labels. "Scott is following his passion now with artists he's excited about, with his new Emerdood Promotion," said Cash.
In a recent visit to Sacramento, Emerdood Promotion brought Leihoku (lay-hoh-koo) to the Retail Radio studios for an intimate live performance. Leihoku is a female singer/songwriter born and raised on the island of Oahu, Hawaii.
"Leihoku" means "lei of stars." "Her name suits her! She is definitely going to be a star," said Erica Decima, a Retail Radio employee who saw the performance.
"There is nothing like being able to help real talent like Leihoku," said Cash. "Sometimes traditional radio is slow to move on great music because it has become so corporate. At Retail Radio, we can play music simply because it's good and deserves to be played! Leihoku will be everywhere soon and I am glad we could be there at the beginning."
About Leihoku
Born and raised on the island of Oahu, Leihoku is a singer/songwriter currently living in Los Angeles. She recently completed writing and recording her first EP with a collection of songs that have a smooth pop flair and an island touch. With a passion to sing, she spent her youth in vocal lessons, performed regularly on stage in musical groups and theater, won first place in Hawaii's Stars, and as a senior in high school landed the lead role in the first high school production in the nation to perform the rock opera Aida. The tour went on to perform at the Festival Fringe, the largest arts festival in the world, in Edinburgh, Scotland. Her self-produced EP delivers songs with an upbeat pop vocal and a bit of island rhythm in "We Got Each Other," more contemporary vocals in "Always," and a mix of both in the playful "99%." Her ballad "Trouble with You Gone" is a heartfelt song about the recent passing of her grandpa where listeners can really feel the emptiness in her life without him.
