iPortfolio Won the Special Award in E-book for Travalloon, a Tour-guide Book Service Based on Spindle Books. Awarded in the First Korea Electronic Publishing Contest

    ANYANG, KOREA, November 21, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- iPortfolio, a company specializing in e-book and digital textbook production received the special award in E-book from Digital Book Fair Korea 2014 held at KINTEX in Il-san from 6th to 8th of last November. The fair was hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Also, the Publication Industry Promotion Agency of Korea (KPIPA) and Maeil Business Newspaper organized it. iPortfolio was honored with the special prize given to the company which has outstanding technology in E-book production. It was credit for the contract with Oxford University Press.

With its own electronic publishing platform, 'Spindle Books', iPortfolio provides an integrated tour-guide book solution. People don't have to carry heavy paper guidebooks up to hundred pages. E-book is the only thing they need.

The guidebook iPortfolio made is in the shape of Spindle Books E-book. Then, people can read it at anytime, anywhere. It also provides a GPS-based service which suggesting famous tour spots near from the place where users are. Moreover, Spindle Books platform has been continuously upgraded so that people can attach memos and photos on the e-book. In this way, they actually can make 'their own tour-guide book'.

iPortfolio wasn't satisfied with the outcome. The company transformed about 130 travel books in Korea into E-books and launched 'Travalloon', a travel content library application. By downloading 'Travalloon', you can buy various travel books and can download free travel guides published by local tourism administrations and travel agencies. It provides a lot of information including weather, currency, and electric outlet types on the dashboard. Even it has a unit conversion function. Another advantage is that all the purchased books can be downloaded by the same application account in all operating systems.

Robert Sung-yoon Kim, the CEO said, "We conceive the development of integrated tour-guide platform to tide over the recession. It's all win-win for travel agencies, airlines and tourism administrations. And we plan to build a network for 'Travalloon' users to share their information and experience about traveling among them."

From now on, 70% of domestic tour-guide books are uploaded on 'Travalloon'. The company steadily has been expanding its business in a tour-guide books field. When it comes to foreign market, it has been on E-book publishing projects with famous publishers such as Oxford University Press. Recently, iPortfolio is considered as a hot start-up for its continuous investment and technology development.
