"Making this calendar was fun; sort of my Will Ferrell moment," says Guidarelli, "but it's based in some serious issues that are happening in our world today."
NEW YORK, NY, November 24, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Knowing that Guidarelli would most likely never be invited to participate in Broadway Bares, the annual burlesque show fundraiser in New York City where the Broadway community performs striptease routines to raise money for the charity Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids, the G&W Entertainment team came up with their own way to help do their part by inviting him to pose for the 2015 Bari-chunk Calendar and donate all proceeds to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids.
"I am physically not what anyone would consider the chorus boy type," says Guidarelli. "I have a much bigger... voice than your average chorus boy." Although he is not destined to be a Broadway chorus boy, Guidarelli is the 2011 MAC award winner for Best Comedy/Musical Comedy Performer and has graced the world's stages as a professional opera singer.
"Making this calendar was fun; sort of my Will Ferrell moment," says Guidarelli, "but it's based in some serious issues that are happening in our world today." Guidarelli, who has always considered himself a Bari-chunk, was asked by the producers of Operation Opera to pose for the calendar after he shared with them an article about mezzo-soprano Tara Erraught who a critic called "a chubby bundle of puppy fat." "It's disheartening that celebrities make headlines for being completely photoshopped because it encourages unrealistic body images and perpetuates a culture of fat-shaming. My Bari-chunk calendar is an offering of something that is realistic; the only things enhanced in this calendar are the operatic backdrops," concludes Guidarelli.
