Dr. Korsten has 39 years of medical experience, which serves him well in his position at Mount Sinai Medical Center. As an expert in gastroenterology, he is responsible for diagnosing and treating diseases of the Gl tract including the liver and pancreas. Dr. Korsten became involved in his profession because both of his parents were doctors, which spurred him on to pursue a career in health care as well.
Dr. Korsten completed a Gl fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital, NY in 1975, having earned an MD from the Yale School of Medicine in 1970. He was recently inducted into Worldwide Registry and also maintains affiliation with the American Gastroenterology Association and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. In recognition of his professional success throughout the years, he has been honored by Castle Connolly Top Doctors of the New York Metro Area from 2001-2008 and from 2010-2014. In the coming years, Dr. Korsten would like to continue his research, helping people with spinal cord injuries that have bowel problems.
