Last year over 1,000 youth throughout Manatee County benefited from Manatee PAL's programs, including cheerleading, roller hockey, football, basketball and summer camp. Deputies from the Sheriff's Departments, along with local volunteers, provide leadership and mentoring for PAL members, helping them learn to make life-enhancing decisions free of drugs and gangs.
Manatee PAL is part of the state and national organization with a proven track record of helping kids. Manatee PAL's mission is to bring law enforcement, kids and families together in a positive, safe environment through sports and academics to build a strong community. The motto is: helping kids succeed through sports, academics and police mentoring.

"It is important for our youth to have the opportunity to not only compete in sports, but to be around other children and have PAL's outstanding mentors, teachers, and coaches pass along their positive outlook on life," says Bruce Bottorff, PAL Board President. "Everyone should have an opportunity to improve themselves, as long as they respect one another and work hard for it. I can personally attest to how well such opportunities have benefited me throughout my career and personal life."
