Thierry Oblin Recognized for Work on the Waller Submarine

    NORMANHURST, AUSTRALIA, December 02, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Thierry Oblin, Senior Design and Integration Engineer with Indra Australia, was recently named a VIP member of Worldwide Branding. This special distinction honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment to achieving personal and professional success.

Mr. Oblin utilizes his skills in sonar, submarines, surface ship Combat System equipment and Air Traffic Management control in his role with Indra Australia, a defense company that offers Mission Systems Integration for naval and air traffic control systems. A Certified Professional Engineer and Raytheon Certified Architect, Mr. Oblin is celebrating his 25 years in the industry.

Mr. Oblin takes pride in ensuring that projects are always completed on time and within budget. He has participated in several important projects throughout his career, including the repair of a Collins-class submarine Combat System issue in less than two days prior to going to Hawaii to attend a RIMPAC exercise. Before it was fixed, the submarine could only stay underwater for 15 minutes. Mr. Oblin has received national recognition from Raytheon Australia on behalf of the Royal Australian Navy for his work on the Waller submarine, which was credited as being the first conventional submarine in the world to be able to detect some nuclear submarines as well as other 'red' forces.

Mr. Oblin received a master's degree in computers from the Universite de Valenciennes in 1988, and began working with Thales Underwater Systems (TUS) one year later. He remained with the company for five years in France, having chosen the position because it seemed to be the most exciting and challenging one out of all the offers he received. Mr. Oblin went on to work in Sydney, where he assisted in integrating the Collins Class Scylla Sonar being built by TUS with the Combat System. His success can be attributed to the quality of his work and his drive to become a better Principal Systems Engineer. Mr. Oblin is a member of Engineers Australia.
