Attorney B.R. Hicks Represents Clients in High-Profile Cases

Drawing on more than 38 years of experience, both as a prosecutor and then as a criminal defense attorney, Mr. Hicks has represented hundreds of clients in criminal, DUI/DWI, traffic and personal injury cases. He serves clients throughout Northern Virginia. He is perhaps best known for his defense of people charged with DUI/DWI, handling more than 100 such cases every year.

Mr. Hicks worked his way through law school as a full-time police officer. He received a JD from American University in 1976 and was admitted to the Virginia State Bar a few days later. Mr. Hicks was then appointed an Arlington County Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney and served in that position for more than two years. Mr. Hicks was appointed the part-time prosecutor for the City of Falls Church, and held that position for nearly 18 years, while also working as an attorney in private practice.

Recently inducted into Worldwide Registry, Mr. Hicks is admitted to practice in Virginia and the District of Columbia, and before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. His experience as a prosecutor and as a defense attorney has provided him with a unique understanding of the strategies and arguments used by opposing counsel. Mr. Hicks attributes his success to his passion for justice and to his determination to treat every case as though his reputation depended on it. He has handled high-profile murder and involuntary manslaughter cases, as well as a wide variety of other cases, ranging from larceny to domestic assault.
