PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL, December 15, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- C-Capture, Inc. is proud to announce that their product SurviveDrive will be launched at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, NV from January 6 - 9, 2015.
SurviveDrive is a small portable USB drive that captures all files on the internal C-drive or Operating System Drive including photos; documents; settings; email, if using Outlook or Windows Mail; music; videos; desktop; contacts; and any folders created by the user on the machine. The software does not install an invasive program, it simply runs an executable every time it has been plugged into the USB socket. The device works on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 in both 32 and 64 bit.
C-Capture, Inc. will be exhibiting in Eureka Park at Booth 75329. Eureka Park is the flagship startup destination at the CES Show for new products, services or ideas as well as features University Innovations. SurviveDrive fits all of these criteria.
Data loss is something no person wants to experience but sooner or later, all hard drives crash - it is only a matter of when. Typically, many are not prepared for when it happens and in most cases the data is not retrievable. Paying an IT professional to try and recover the data or using a cloud based storage system to hold the data can be expensive.
Neal Hynes knows this all too well. He's been manually backing up his client's desktops and laptops for 14 years and receives new customer calls when someone has lost all of their data because they had not backed up their files. For years, Hynes had been doing the same procedure over and over again to back up the data and restore it once the computer was repaired but it involved many decisions the average user might not understand.
"My first thought was wouldn't it be great if I found a product to automate the process and speed up my workload," stated Neal Hynes, Chief Technical Offer and Partner of C-Capture, Inc. When he found nothing in the marketplace that saves data and then automatically restores all the files, regardless of what Windows operating system was being used - he started working on developing the product.
"If you were to back up your computer with a regular Flash drive or CD, you would have to search the different folders on your computer, open each location and take repeated steps to back up each folder," explains Hynes. "The SurviveDrive interface is simple with no need to navigate screens with multiple steps or options. With 1-click all critical decisions involving what to backup and where to place the files are automatically taken care of because all of the data is saved and restored exactly how it was before."
Development of SurviveDrive began in July of 2013 when C-Capture, Inc. was formed and incorporated. As a FAU graduate, Hynes approached Borko Furht, the Dean of Engineering, about getting a student to program the outline for his device.
At Borko Furht's recommendation, C-Capture, Inc. became a member of Florida Atlantic University (FAU) and the National Science Foundation (NSF) in January 2014. A student and Administrative Professor were assigned to the project and programming, research and development began, creating the beta version by March. Continuous testing and evaluations took them through 11 versions of the software until the final version was completed in October.
SurviveDrive is a much needed and affordable option in the marketplace because Cloud storage and systems such as Windows Office, Adobe or other software applications for data storage can have disadvantages. Cloud based systems have a monthly or yearly subscription fee whereas Survive Drive is a one-time purchase in which your data is literally in the palm of your hand and easily accessible. A low internet bandwidth or poor network coverage can hinder access to your data when using other applications. Other issues could be the amount of space offered is too small and files users want to save are often memory intensive and use up space quickly. It is also inconvenient for users to have to operate more than one form of application software to save data. SurviveDrive can be used on more than one computer as long as there is space available on the drive.
SurviveDrive comes in three sizes at 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. Larger storage can be made available by contacting C-Capture, Inc. The MSRP starts at $59.95 for the 32GB model.
C-Capture, Inc. has started development of SurviveDrive versions for Mac computers and mobile devices.
