FILEY, ENGLAND, December 22, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Leaders in noise at work measurement, Pulsar Instruments, announce a series of One Day Noise Awareness Training Courses in 2015 to help health and safety professionals comply with noise at work standards and legislation.
North Yorkshire - News emerged in 2014 that the former singer and presenter Cilla Black is now completely deaf. The 71-year-old says her impairment was caused by working in the Cavern Club music venue in the 1960s.
The 1960s might be long gone but problems related to Noise Induced Hearing Loss (HIHL) are more pressing than ever. A report conducted by the insurance company Axa found that the number of deafness claims against British businesses had risen by 162% from 2009 - 2012. The increase in the number of NIHL claims is partly because people are more prepared to come forward and take civil action against employers.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) estimates that around a million workers in Britain are exposed to noise levels that are above the safety level of 80 decibels.
Being unaware of the latest Noise at Work legislation can be costly to a company.
As experts warn about the growing number of industrial deafness claims, it is more imperative than ever that employers are up-to-date with Noise at Work legislation.
Following the success of its Noise Awareness training courses in 2014, Pulsar Instruments - experts in noise and work measurement instruments - are introducing One Day Noise Awareness Courses for Health and Safety professionals in 2015.
Pulsar Instrument's One Day Noise Awareness courses are designed to give employers and health and safety professionals a greater understanding of issues related to noise at work and how to measure and control such noise.
You might be a complete beginner or somewhat of an expert in noise measurement and require some 'refresher' sessions. Whatever experience you have with noise control the courses are suitable for professionals with varying levels of knowledge about issues involving noise in working environments and Noise at Work legislation.
Pulsar's One Day Noise at Work courses provide answers to some of the most commonly-asked questions regarding noise at work, such as how can employers determine if there is a noise problem at work and what they need to do to comply with the new Control of Noise at Work Regulations.
The One Day training courses provide information about noise theory, noise measurement terminology, the new EU Physical Agents Directive, noise control basics, how to measure noise, how to use sound level meters and noise dosemeters and how to record and report workplace noise measurements.
The courses include a practical workshop followed by an open discussion.
The first of Pulsar's One Day Noise Awareness courses in 2015 will take place on Wednesday 18 March at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. Two more courses will be held in June and September at different venues.
