TORONTO, ON, December 31, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Dan Andreae, Professor at the University of Guelph-Humber and Adjunct Associate Professor at Rension University College, University of Waterloo, has been selected as a Professional of the Year Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Dr. Dan Andreae's commitment to excellence in Higher Education.
Born in Canada, Dr. Dan Andreae always knew that someday he wanted to teach; it was a natural calling for him. He has always enjoyed the interactions with students and making education come alive for them. Following in his motto, that "education is most relevant and remembered when the head meets the heart," he pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology in 1977 at York University, followed by a Master's Degree in Social Work in 1980 at Wilfrid Laurier University. With his extensive interest in the brain and education, he recently completed a postgraduate certificate in neuropsychophysiology from the Behavioural Medicine and Training Institute affiliated with Saybrook University and has earned an Advanced Diploma with distinction in Stress Management and Consulting from an organization based in Cornwall, England.
"We can never sacrifice the human dimensions of teaching without depriving students of a full education," Mr. Andreae said about his many years of experience in the classroom. "I have witnessed, on so many occasions, students beginning to blossom when they gain ownership of the educational process."
Now a popular and distinguished professor who has twice been selected as Faculty of the Year as well as Faculty and Staff Mentor of the Year for graduating students at the University of Guelph-Humber, an innovative school in Ontario, Canada where students receive both a diploma and university degree after four years of study, Dr. Andreae teaches several psychology courses, including: personality, educational, social, abnormal, and thesis. He has been part of the University faculty since 2004. Also an adjunct associate professor at Rension University College, which is affiliated with the University of Waterloo and is located in Ontario, he teaches in the areas of Social Development Studies and the School of Social Work. Dr. Andreae has been a part of their faculty since 1998.
Dr. Andreae is the recipient of an Honorary Doctor of Law Award through Assumption University and a Prestigious Distinguished Teaching Award through the University of Waterloo. He has served as the first executive director of the Alzheimer's Society of Toronto. From 2010-13, he was the chairman of the Patrons Council of the Alzheimer's Society, is a past trustee of the Psychology Foundation of Canada, is also the co-founder and co-chairman of the Social Work Doctors Colloquium, participates as a member of the Harvard Medical School Post Graduate Association, and is a founding member of the Coaching Institute in Boston, Massachusetts. In 2014, Dr. Andreae was featured in the National Association of Distinguished Professional's Top 100 Industry Experts magazine.
