Dennis P. Murphy Demonstrates Expertise in Personal Injury Litigation at Private Practice

Mr. Murphy has amassed nearly four decades' worth of professional experience in his field, specializing in personal injury litigation. At his current post, he is responsible for concentrating in personal injury, civil and probate litigation, real estate, product liability, insurance claims, uninsured motorist cases and motor vehicle accidents.

Prior to his present position, Mr. Murphy worked in private practice since 1978, where he was the founding partner in the law firm Montoya, Murphy, Kauffman, & Garcia, practicing criminal and civil law in Santa Fe and northern New Mexico. He is familiar with both state and federal legislation and also with the courts and judges in Santa Fe and the surrounding areas.

Mr. Murphy became involved in his profession after working as a bellhop at a local hotel during high school and having co-workers who were considering law school. It intrigued him, but he did not fully decide to pursue it until a city councilman visited his high school and was talking about law school. He worked along the Mississippi river to make money to eventually go to law school and decided to attend the University of Denver. He first worked as a prosecutor for three years at the district attorney's office and the New Mexico Attorney General's Office, then went into a partnership. For the past 10 years, he has been a solo practitioner. Recently, Mr. Murphy was selected to be featured in "Top Lawyers: The Secrets to their Success" in recognition of his contributions to the legal profession.

After working hard to pursue his dreams and achieve his academic and professional goals, Mr. Murphy earned a JD from the University of Denver. He was recently inducted into Worldwide Registry for his demonstration of excellence at the helm of his legal practice, as well. Mr. Murphy is a member of the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association. He also previously served as President of the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association and as an ATLA State Delegate; he is currently a member of the State Bar of New Mexico and the U.S. District Court New Mexico. Mr. Murphy is also a committee member of the New Mexico Bar Lawyers Assistance program.
