Recently inducted into the Worldwide Registry, Dr. Burke became involved in his profession because of his passion for his work and his love of working with children. He was well-equipped to succeed earning his MD from The University of Arizona in 1974, completing both his Ophthalmology residency and also earning a Masters of Science in Ophthalmology (M.S.O.) in 1978 at The University of Michigan, and finishing his fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at Will Eye Hospital in Philadelphia in 1979. He became Director of the Department of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital in 1979 and continued there until 1998 when he went into full-time private practice.
Dr. Burke is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a sub-specialty fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. Recognized by his patients and their parents for his unmatched excellence, he received the Patient's Choice Most Compassionate Doctor Award five years in a row, from 2009 until 2013.
