Michael Shaw owns and operates six car dealerships in three states, four of which bear his name and one that reflects his family name of Fernandez. In Colorado, he operates a Subaru Dealership in the Denver suburb of Thornton and a Buick-GMC dealership in Colorado Springs. His dealerships in Texas include Toyota and Kia locations in Corpus Christi and a Honda dealership in San Antonio. Mr. Shaw also operates a Honda dealership in Slidell, Louisiana, 30 minutes from New Orleans. His company is among the 500 largest U.S. Hispanic-owned companies and number one in Colorado.

In 2012, Mike Shaw, dealer principal of Mike Shaw Chevrolet Saab in Denver, was named the national Time Dealer of the Year, one of the auto-sales industry's biggest honors.

Mr. Shaw is a Vietnam Veteran and former U.S. Army officer. He holds a BBA from Texas A&M University, where he graduated as a distinguished military student, and is a Trustee on the 12th Man Foundation Board of Trustees. Recently inducted into Worldwide Registry, he also maintains affiliations with the Toyota National Dealer Council, Toyota National Minority Dealer Council, and Gulf States Toyota Dealer Council. He is a past member of the Federal Reserve Bank's Economic Advisory Council, General Motors and Chevrolet National Dealer Councils, GMAC Dealer Advisory Board, and General Motors' Hispanic Dealer Advisory Board.

Over the years, Mr. Shaw has been recognized with numerous customer service, mark of excellence and dealer awards from Honda, Subaru and General Motors for his work in the industry. Voted 2012 Time Dealer of the Year (number one of 17,000 dealers nationwide), he has also been lauded by Time Magazine, Automotive News, and Northwood University. The Denver Hispanic Chamber of Commerce named him Business Man of the Year, the American Diabetes Association named him Father of the Year and he received the 'Scouting...Vale La Pena' award from the National Boy Scouts of America for his service to Hispanic American/Latino youth. Additionally, Mr. Shaw was named Entrepreneur of the Year by Hispanic Business Magazine.

Michael Shaw and his wife, Nancy, have been married for 45 years. They have three children and three grandchildren. Over the past 14 years, the couple has given more than $5 million to the community and have helped raise more than $25 million for a wide variety of community and nonprofit organizations.
