Dale Ballard, the young entrepreneur who started DatingMashup, shares three important tips.
SCOTTSDALE, AZ, January 14, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- You finally did it. You created and filled out a profile on an online dating site and started to interact with other members by sending private messages or using a live chat feature. You want to be a part of the two-thirds of online daters who score a first date. You're now ready. But how do you go about getting it?
Dale Ballard, the young entrepreneur who started DatingMashup, shares three important tips.
Don't Be Pushy
1) Communication is an integral part of a relationship. It has to feel right for the both of you. If one of you is too pushy in asking for a date it may give off bad vibes so have patience and don't rush. Communicate with the other person for at least a few weeks and learn more about each other to see if you might be compatible.
Ask the Right Questions
2) Ask the right questions but don't ask too many. No one likes to feel that they are being interrogated. Make the conversation general at first then you can get into more specific inquiries. For example you can ask about the person's interests, where he/she grew up, type of music preferred, etc. As the conversations progress, you can ask more specific questions about what the person values most in a partner, what personality traits would describe him/her, etc. When reaching out to the other member, remember to stay relaxed and don't come off as being infatuated. Always respond honestly to questions from that member or any member.
Ask When the Time is Right
3) After there is a consistent positive flow in the conversations, you'll know when it's time to go on that first date. You can ask, "I think it's time we get to know each other better, don't you agree?" Wait for the response. If it is a "Yes" then you know you can proceed in asking for that first date. Suggest doing something together based on your mutual interests. This could include biking, hiking, bowling, seeing a movie, or just going to a favorite coffee house for lunch.
These 3 things can help you score that first date after you've met someone online. And remember that according to a research report by pewresearch.org, two-thirds of online daters have gone on a first date with someone they met on either a dating site or a dating app. So the odds of scoring that first date are in your favor.
