TAMPA, FL, January 18, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sight Real Estate, a vision-oriented development and property management company, has closed on the historic Graham Bottling Factory located at 3108 N. Jefferson St. in the up-and-coming Tampa Heights community. Developers plan to re-purpose the neglected brick warehouse into chic residential factory flats.
The almost 24,000 square foot warehouse will go through a complete rehabilitation. The developer coined the name "The Bootlegger" when trying to find history on the factory with little success. They found it peculiar that there was a bottling factory surrounded by single-family homes in a residential area.
"We're excited to be part of the Tampa Heights revitalization and to re-purpose a historic, vacant building so that it can once again be a beautiful asset to our community," said Michael Mincberg, Founder of Sight Real Estate. "Prohibition is a really interesting part of Tampa's history, and this was a bottling factory built in 1925, so it's just a fun way to pay homage to an event that is true to the building's era."
The warehouse is already designated historical, and Sight Real Estate will submit their plans to the architectural review committee for approval. The company is looking to use the stories, opinions, and experiences from Tampa residents to aid them in the site's development plans. Although the factory will have a different purpose, Sight Real Estate will preserve and highlight many of the historic details and elements from the building's original state in their new development.
This is the fourth historic multifamily renovation Sight Real Estate plans to complete in 2015 on both sides of the bay. They are also working on an unnamed factory conversion in Ybor and in St. Petersburg they are converting a historic school into 16 flats named The Euclid School House, and they are also completing an 11-apartment renovation just outside downtown St. Petersburg tagged The Uptown Historic Flats.
"There is a certain character and creative atmosphere that comes from renovating a historic structure that draws the kind of person who really appreciates it which helps to make these projects great investments!" says Mincberg.
