While nationwide 400,000 new businesses are being born annually, 470,000 businesses are closing down. Up until seven years ago in 2008 start-up businesses had outpaced business failures by around 100,000 yearly. The direct marketing firm suggests that there is much work to be done, considering that countries such as Hungary, Denmark, Finland, New Zealand, Sweden, Israel and Italy currently have much higher start-up rates than America.

With the figures published by the U.S. Census Bureau, many Americans may assume that entrepreneurship is dead rather than alive.
