ROYAL OAK, MI, February 04, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Steven Cohen, President, Chief Litigator and Managing Partner of Cohen, Lerner & Rabinovitz, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in providing legal services.
A lauded commercial litigator, Mr. Cohen lends nearly 40 years' legal experience to his firm, Cohen, Lerner & Rabinovitz, located in Royal Oak. There, he handles franchise, labor and employment, personal injury and handicapped and disability rights litigation. He has successfully guided the firm's commercial litigation division and serves regularly as a case evaluator for the circuit courts of Michigan, as an arbitrator, and as a court-appointed special discovery master.
Originally trained as a labor lawyer, Mr. Cohen has been involved in litigation concerning a variety of important labor issues, including cases that established the right to compel compliance with subpoenas issued by arbitrators for use by the federal courts (American Federation of Television and Radio Artists v. WJBK-TV, 164 F.3d 1004, 6th Cir. 1999). Also, as part of his pro bono commitment, Mr. Cohen has served as the general counsel to the Michigan Chapter of the Paralyzed Veterans of America for more than 20 years, and has developed a sub-specialty in handicap compliance issues and disability claims.
Mr. Cohen earned a JD from Wayne State University Law School and a bachelor's degree in history and political science, graduating with high honors, from the University of Michigan. First admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 1978, Mr. Cohen is permitted to practice before numerous federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, the U.S. Court of Claims, and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan and the Northern District of Illinois. Mr. Cohen also maintains affiliation with the Oakland County Bar Association, as a Fellow, The Federal Circuit Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
For his professional efforts, Mr. Cohen was recently inducted into Worldwide Registry and was named a Top Lawyer in the area of litigation and labor law by dBusiness, a prominent metropolitan Detroit business magazine. He has been AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell for more than 20 years, and was presented with the Patriots Award of the Paralyzed Veterans of America in 1998.
