For the Love of Vets!

LONG BEACH, CA, February 04, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dog is Good for Patriots, a fundraiser to benefit Freedom Service Dogs of America, has launch their newest design, just in time for Valentines Day! The Dog is Good (DIG) for Patriots project was developed to raise awareness of the important role that dogs play in the lives of military veterans and others with disabilities. Created in partnership with Freedom Service Dogs, whose mission is to rescue dogs from shelters and train them for service, the project coincides with Dog is Good's commitment of social responsibility, and their reputation of being socially responsible and philanthropic.

Leveraging social media and retail relationships throughout the country, the DIG for Patriots project has publicly informed and showcased what is perhaps the ultimate connection between dogs and humans: providing "freedom." The project, which began on Veteran's Day 2014 will continue until Veteran's Day this year, will give an opportunity to recognize the many ways that dogs positively impact and change the lives of humans.

Jon Kurtz, a military veteran and co-founder of Dog is Good, states, "This project allows us to be personally and directly involved in advocating and raising money for a cause that we believe in."

In promoting DIG for Patriots, well-known Freedom Service Dog, Gander, will be lending a paw. Rescued from a shelter in Pueblo, Colorado, Gander was trained in a women's prison at Canon City, Colorado. He was later selected for training by Freedom Service Dogs and paroled to his "battle buddy" Lon Hodge. Gander now travels the country with Lon, who has PTSD and autoimmune mobility issues, advocating for veteran suicide prevention and service dog awareness.

To celebrate our love for veterans during the Valentine's holiday, Dog is Good will donate $10 from the sale of each Dog is Good for Patriots T-shirt on www.dogisgood.com from February 6 - 8, 2015, just in time to make for a great Valentine's Day Gift.

Sharan Wilson, Executive Director of Freedom Service Dogs of America feels "grateful to be selected as this year's Dog is Good for Patriots Project benefactor. We strive to train and pair as many clients with service dogs as possible. The support of Dog is Good will enable us to pair many more military veterans on our wait list with their service dog this year."
