Siemens Selects Liteye Thermal Surveillance Cameras for Perimeter Security at European Infrastructure Site

    CENTENNIAL, CO, February 05, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Liteye Systems Inc. (www.Liteye.com), a developer and manufacturer of advanced thermal camera systems, has supplied a number of its Aquila thermal surveillance systems to Siemens (www.siemens.com) for installation at a national infrastructure site in Europe.

Siemens needed a field-proven multi-sensor camera package to monitor the perimeter of a strategic infrastructure site. It was important that the solution selected offered 24-hour all-weather capability, rugged construction, and precision cameras allowing for detection and identification of intruders.

Siemens selected the Aquila PTZ system, which combine thermal, daylight, and low light cameras working together to achieve their needs.

Milan Ceeh, head of Siemens' Fire Safety and Security business unit in the Czech Republic, said: "We opted for the technically superior systems from Liteye after careful consideration, analysis and field trials. The Aquila met all our requirements and then some. The detection capability and rugged construction was easily added to our existing infrastructure at the site and has performed beautifully."

The Aquila cameras have now been installed at the location transmitting images over a TCP/IP network to a control room where they provide security staff with a comprehensive display of activity within the perimeter of the site. "Already the cameras are proving successful," added Milan Ceeh. "Within weeks of installation an intruder was detected and identified using the Aquila PTZ (pan, tilt, zoom) security cameras and apprehended by security staff after illegally crossing the perimeter."
